Rag Puff Quilt - a fun gift for little ones

This one turned out so fun. This one I used the Accuquilt GO! 8.5" Rag Die - I literally ran a 42-pack of 10" squares through the machine which cut and ragged all of the fabric for me.

It's beneficial to plan out the quilt and put contrasting fabric together so that the colors stand out as much as possible.

I like to assemble mine in rows, so that it's easier to visualize the outcome of the entire quilt.

Let's also not forget the flannel pattern in the back - I like to do patterns with my spare flannel so that it gets used up!

Here are the instructions to get the above pictured "rag puff" quilt look: 1. Cut fabric according to size (or run it through the die that I used)

2. Place front fabric with coordinating back (flannel!) fabric, wrong sides together.

3. Sew together 3 out of the 4 sides so that the edges that are frayed (or will fray) are together like a sandwich. or hamburger. Leave one side entirely open and stuff it with a small handful of pillow casing.

4. Repeat with all squares.

5. Chain stitch all squares shut, individually.

6. Sew 1 side of each square together with the square, with the back sides together so that the fabric "rags" to the front of the quilt.

7. Using a walking foot, Sew in rows.

Optional: sew a 4" border along the back, with the rag to the front.

Optional 2: Add your personalized label

Wash, dry & shake the hell out of it OUTSIDE!
